MIRROR SPLASHBACK
The big advantages of mirror glass over painted splashbacks or digital print splashbacks, is that they can be used to compliment any colour scheme or style. Mirrored splashbacks create wonderful effects such as, making a room appear larger and adding more light into a space. Mirror glass is also easy to clean – a simple wipe with spray of glass cleaner and those oil splatters will vanish.
The addition of a mirrored kitchen splashback will really create that wow factor, in a truly innovate and contemporary way. Choose from either clear, tinted or antique mirror glass for your splashback – all have slightly different great effect.

CRACKLED GLASS SPLASHBACKS ARE STYLISH AND SAFE.
Crackled glass or “ice crackled” glass is one of the most distinctive glass splashbacks due to its pattern. It is something special, and something out of the ordinary; each individual crack reflects the natural light in a room, which creates a beautiful shimmer effect catching the eye. A crackled glass splashback is defiantly a modern way to style your home..
At London Glass & Balustrades, this type of glass is created with 3 layers. We laminate a sheet of toughened glass between two additional layers, in which the sheet in the middle is then shattered, forming a cracked effect between the top and bottom layers. Crackled glass is extremely safe and very difficult to break due to the laminating and toughening process combined.
THE GLASS FOR SPLASHBACKS
We use toughened low iron glass for kitchen splashbacks at London Glass & Balustrades, made to measure, and available in both a 4mm and 6mm thickness. Low iron is the preferred type of glass, due to the low amount of iron within the glass. This feature takes away the green tint around the edges found in normal toughened glass, which can have an effect on the colour of the painted glass splashbacks – particularly bright colours.
Additionally, our glass kitchen spashbacks can withstand extreme temperatures, which are likely to be used within standard kitchen appliances – including gas cookers and hobs – providing resistance to stains, food splashes and grease while cooking.

Yes, all of our made to measure glass splashbacks are toughened, which allows the glass to withstand more heat. The paint is on the back of the glass and is sealed off, allowing nothing to ruin the colour, or cause any damage from the heat.
Low iron is the preferred choice of glass for painted splashbacks. Taking the iron out of the glass means you don’t get the green tint commonly found within normal glass, making it much clearer – meaning no negative effect on the colour of paint. Very dark colours such a black can be used with normal toughened glass, as the green tint cant have an effect as it is too dark, however, low iron is still always recommended.
At London Glass & Balustrades, we toughen all splashbacks as a standard. However, the answer really depends on where this splashback is being placed. For example, for decor purposes only, the splashback may not beed to be toughened -although it is worth to bear in mind, this will be less resilient to damage.

Typically the maxium size in length is around 3m long. A lot of customers always want the seamless look, so in most cases this will be long enough. However, if 3m is too small, we can outsource to other companies in Europe in order to make a splashback possible for you.
